HONOUR FOR A RANSOM BY RAJNISH GAMBHIR

Honour for a ransom is among the very few books that I consider worth a read by every person and atleast by the people of every casteist society. The author Rajnish Gambhir has done an incredible job by not only pointing out the reasons for such dogmas but also by portraying the scenarios that follow. Although the story expresses that the society plays a major role into mind conditioning people to be casteist(like Kartar, who is accused of honour killing while he himself had a past romance of the same kind.); a wider perspective of the same hints at the fact that none is born a casteist. The plot of the story is based in Punjab but it also holds apt for the nearby states where Honour killing on the basis of caste still stands justified in the society. The author's good research on the subject is evident by the dialogues used in the book to justify the killing ( He's just a bloody peasant with a sole aim to repeatedly **** your daughter..
